Assemblywoman Soria Releases Statement on Approved Planada Flood Relief Plan

SACRAMENTO, CA  Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria (D-Fresno), issued the following statement on the approved 2023 Winter Storm Flood Relief Plan for the City of Planada.

This week is the one-year anniversary since the residents of Planada were hit by devastating Winter storms and flooding. In response to the urgent community needs, Assemblywoman Soria secured $20 million in state funding to support the recovery and restoration of the Planada community. On Tuesday, the Merced County Board of Supervisors approved the 2023 Winter Storm Flood Relief Plan (Planada Flood Relief). 

“I applaud the relief plan that prioritizes the direct needs of impacted residents. This plan is a result of the engagement and recommendations from Planada residents,” said Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria. “The community of Planada has faced immense challenges after they were hit by devastating storms and flooding last year. Many of those impacted are some of our most vulnerable neighbors, so from the beginning, our goal has been to deliver the direct support they need and deserve. This is a win for our community of Planada.” 

The Planada Flood Relief Plan includes: 

  • $8,000,000: Home Repairs
  • $4,000,000: Direct Assistance
  • $3,000,000 Infrastructure
  • $500,000 Business Assistance
  • $2,500,000 Additional Program Areas
  • $2,000,000 Program Administration
