2025 Heart of the Valley Art Showcase

The Art Showcase celebrates the talents of artists in Assembly District 27. Each quarter, four pieces will be selected from different areas of participating Arts Councils to rotate between the District Office and the Capitol. Submissions are open to all artists living within the District, highlighting the Valley’s rich culture and hidden talent.

SUBMIT YOUR ART: We are excited to showcase the incredible talent of the Central Valley in our Merced and Fresno District Offices and our Capitol Office. Submissions will be accepted from February 14 to March 7, 2025. Selected artists will be notified via email on March 14, 2025. Don’t miss this opportunity to share your artistry with the community!


Guidelines for submissions (MUST READ)

  • Art must be original art from submitting artist
  • Pieces must be no larger than a 27x40
  • Art must be ready to hang. Wired only. No saw-tooth hangers, quick frames or screw eyes
  • Flat art only. No sculptures.
  • Art allowed are paintings, drawings, photography. Canvas/print
  • Artwork must not be classwork
  • Canvases without frames must have gallery wrapped corners and painted to the edge
  • No wet art
  • Art is submitted on a voluntary basis. No compensation is awarded. See waiver.

Please provide a description of the art piece you are submitting (200 words minimum). Include the inspiration behind the piece, the medium and techniques used, and how it reflects your perspective or connection to the Central Valley. Share any details that make your artwork meaningful or unique.

Originality: In consideration of the opportunity to display my work to the public, and other good and valuable consideration, the adequacy and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, I, the undersigned artist, certify that the art that I am submitting is my original art and that I am the author and creator of such art. 

Promotion and Publicity: I grant the office of Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria permission to publish in all media my name, artwork, and location for use in promotion through print media, television, and the internet. I further allow the office of Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria to release such information to other persons and entities. My name will be attributed to my pieces that are shown by the office of Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria. I understand that no financial compensation will be dispersed and all transactions while on display will go directly though the artist and purchasing party. 

Responsibility: I understand that the office of Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria and its partner gallery sponsors do not assume responsibility for loss or damage to my artwork(s) or the loss or damage to frames or glass, no matter how sustained. Reasonable safety precautions are in place to ensure added protection of my work. 

Artwork remains in the Assembly Offices until the end of the exhibit: I understand that if my artwork is accepted for the show that the work may not be removed from the exhibition until the pick-up date discussed upon selection. 

Sales of Artwork: I am responsible for all sales transactions and the collection and filing of applicable sales tax. 

Waiver of Liability: Once I submit this form electronically or by paper copy, I (the artist), my heirs, successors, and assigns, shall indemnify and hold the office of Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria and appointed officers, volunteers, employees harmless from any and all claims, costs and liabilities for any artwork damage, personal injury, death, or other property damage which is the result of handling and displaying the artwork at the Merced District office of Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria, and the Sacramento Office of Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria. Our partners’ employees or contractors are likewise held harmless from any and all claims from the artist, heirs, successors or assigns from any artwork damage, personal injury, death, or other property damage, and related costs and liabilities, which is the result of handling and displaying the artwork.

I acknowledge that I have read and understand all terms contained in the description for this Call for Art and the Artist Agreement, and agree to be bound by the terms and stated expectations.
