SACRAMENTO – Governor Newsom signed Assemblywoman Soria’s AB 1350 into law today, October 10th.
AB 1350, establishes a dedicated fund to receive private donations for the maintenance and rehabilitation of veteran’s memorials in Capitol Park. This law will help to provide funding, administered by California Department of Veterans Affairs, to repair damage to several existing memorials in Capitol Park caused by vandalism.
There are a number of veterans’ memorials in Capitol Park, including the Vietnam War Memorial, the Mexican-American War Memorial, the Veterans Memorial, and the California American Portuguese Veterans Memorial that are in need of immediate repair and maintenance.
“I am grateful for this bill becoming law so that we may continue to honor the service of our Veterans through well-maintained memorial sites,” said Assemblywoman Soria. “Veteran memorials serve as a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice the brave men and women of our Country gave to protect our freedoms.”
