SACRAMENTO, CA— Today, Assemblywoman Soria’s AB 3171 passes through its first legislative hurdle in the Assembly Public Safety Committee.
AB 3171 cracks down on fentanyl drug trafficking by holding dealers accountable for fentanyl overdoses, poisonings and deaths. This bill increases penalties for individuals trafficking in fentanyl.
“AB 3171 answers the Governor’s call to hold “poison peddlers accountable” said Assemblywoman Soria. “Fentanyl is taking too many innocent lives. This bill will hold drug dealers accountable for the destruction they are causing to our neighborhoods and will help make our communities safer.”
AB 3171 passes the Assembly Public Safety Committee with bipartisan support. It now heads to the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
