About the Program:
• 15-20 students will be selected
• 6 month program: January 2026 - June 2026
• Participants will be required to meet on a Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. (participants must attend at least 5/6 meetings)—will also be required to volunteer a minimum of 2 community events hosted by Assemblywoman Soria
• Participants will learn about state government and the most pressing issues affecting Assembly District 27
• At the completion of the program, participants will travel to Sacramento to receive a certificate of completion
• Educational Scholarship upon completion of program

Program Description:
Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria’s Young Legislators Program is an opportunity for 16-18 year old attending a high school in the 27th Assembly District to have a front row seat in the public policy and political arena. During the six-month program, students will meet once a month to become better advocates on issues they care about, gain valuable leadership skills, and learn about the legislative process.
Requirements:
- 16-18 year old students with at least a 2.5 or higher unweighted GPA
- Must list graduation year
- Must live or attend school in the 27th Assembly District
- Commit to six monthly, four hour Saturday meetings (Entire program is free of cost)
